In a time where creating images is both quick and impactful, photography has transformed into more than just a visual art form- it's become a powerful language of identity, resistance, and storytelling.  

For many people, identity is shaped not only by who they are, but by whether they can see themselves reflected in the world around them. For Aura Stephenson, that absence of representation became the spark for something meaningful. A growing digital platform dedicated to celebrating and supporting LGBTQ+ communities across Northeast England.  

In a world where social media often shapes unrealistic standards and many people feel increasingly disconnected from real life communities, spaces that encourage confidence, friendship and self-expression have never been more important. That is exactly what Girls Club Teesside has set out to create.  

At Fashioned by Identity, we celebrate the powerful connection between creativity and identity. Makeup is often seen through the lens of beauty alone, but for many artists it becomes something much deeper- a language of emotion, resistance, storytelling, and self-discovery.  

Fashion is often described as self-expression, but for some designers it goes deeper than trends, silhouettes, or seasonal palettes. It becomes a language of identity, resilience, and transformation. For this emerging creative, clothing is about more than what people wear- it is about how they feel when they wear it.

For too long, the fashion industry has been seen as a realm of frivolity, where everything and everyone is for show and nothing has any real importance. For Westwood, fashion was not about decoration and clothes were not just clothes, they were somewhere to hang ideas, they were the ideas of protest embodied.
